 Opel Solar Concentrator
Concentrating Photovoltaic Systems (CPVs) are the next generation in solar technology. The concentrator panels provide a practical solution to the high cost of solar cells by focusing sunlight onto smaller photovoltaic receivers. The smaller receivers require less active material, ultimately reducing costs. OPEL has designed two concentrating solar panels, each employing different advancements in technology, developed by the OPEL Engineering Staff. The OPEL Mk-I High Concentration Photovoltaic Panel (HCPV) is a high performance, reliable, cost effective product designed for grid connected solar systems in medium to high solar irradiance. The Mk-I Panel uses a dual element refractive concentrator and triple junction Boeing-Spectrolab solar cells to produce an extremely high rate of efficiency. In September 08' the OPEL Mk-I obtained the CE qualification for Europe. We are currently working on UL Certification and expect to receive this very shortly. Opel Solar Concentrators offer twice the efficiency of the current standard silicone panel at a lower cost per watt, making this the most efficient and most effective panel on the market today.
